Create a brand and develop a moodboard to define its aesthetic, then design a clothing line that embodies this brand identity.

This project was given in my product development class that I took at Santa Reparata International School of Art (SRISA) while studying abroad in Florence, Italy. I worked on a team with Sofia Nicchitta and Hannah Buchholz to develop a line for our brand, Sweet Breeze Clothing, which follows a coastal aesthetic.
Initially, my team and I brainstormed our brand identity, focusing on its aesthetic and envisioned offerings. We decided on 'Sweet Breeze,' a beachwear brand that prioritizes natural, sustainable materials. The design palette emphasizes earthy tones, reflecting its serene and organic theme.

My group and I drew inspiration from the emerging Coastal Grandma/Granddaughter aesthetic. This trend seamlessly blends timeless, classic fashion with a relaxed, seaside-inspired vibe, recognized for its elegance, comfort, and strong connection to nature, particularly beach and coastal living.

Furthermore, the Coastal Grandma/Granddaughter aesthetic showcases a soothing color palette of soft, muted tones including white, beige, light blue, and pastels, echoing the serene coastal environment. It highlights natural, breathable fabrics such as linen and cotton, offering a relaxed yet sophisticated ambiance. The style prioritizes comfort and effortless elegance, featuring loose-fitting, flowing dresses, wide-leg pants, lightweight sweaters, and simple blouses. While occasional subtle patterns like stripes or florals are incorporated, the aesthetic predominantly favors solid colors and minimalist designs.
Creating the Designs
After establishing the aesthetic, we curated a cohesive clothing line featuring shorts, pants, a long-sleeve button-down, and a tank top. We opted for predominantly solid colors, adding stripes to select pieces for extra flair. I used Adobe Illustrator to design both the garments and their patterns, developing multiple colorway options for each item. These designs were then shared with my team, facilitating a collaborative decision-making process to finalize the color choices.
