picking a theme

First, my team and I needed to establish a theme for our forecast. This involved analyzing the current zeitgeist and its potential developments. We decided on a futuristic theme that incorporates retro-futuristic concepts, particularly those reminiscent of the 60s. The parallels between today's zeitgeist and that of the 60s are striking, with both periods characterized by themes of space exploration and escapism.

color forecast

Upon finalizing our theme, the next step was to develop a color forecast. We drew inspiration from the colors that emerged prominently in a moodboard we created. Our color forecast included two distinct palettes: one reflecting a typical 60s color scheme with primary colors, and the other featuring more modern, “techno” inspired hues.

textiles forecast

Following the color forecast, our task was to identify fabrics that would effectively represent the chosen theme. Our team decided on six types of fabrics: two innovative or trademarked fabrics, two from CottonWorks, and the remaining selected through research. Additionally, we chose suitable prints and patterns, as well as trims and details, to complement these textiles.

looks

The final step before creating our deliverable involved sourcing street style and runway looks, along with key items, to substantiate our forecast. This was achieved through extensive research, ensuring that the selected styles aligned with and supported our thematic forecast.
